Fluffy Wheat Bread- Bread Machine Recipe
I have been struggling for years to find a perfect organic whole wheat bread recipe for the bread machine. No matter what I did, the bread was coming out dense and without flavor. After tweaking and altering many recipes, I finally landed on this gem!
1 cup + 2 tbs warm water
3 tsp active yeast
2 ½ cups whole wheat flour (organic) I use Great River Flour
¼ cup vital wheat gluten
½ tsp salt
¼ cup granulated sugar + 1 tbs
¼ cup olive oil
1 large egg
Place all ingredients in bread machine in order recommended by manufacturer. I do dry on bottom, wet on top. Put on dough cycle and press start. Once cycle is finished, remove dough and place in greased bread pan. Do not punch dough. It will shrink a little when you touch it, so transfer it quickly. Let rise an additional 40 min in bread pan covered with towel. I leave pan on top of a warming oven to help it rise. Bake at 375 for 20 min or until cooked.
