Little Black Dress, Friends, Grey Hair and The Hair Salon

My eventful Saturday

I woke up like this! Haha, not really. I almost never wear makeup to work. I really would rather spend 20 extra minutes in bed then in the bathroom applying makeup.  But I was in a mood Friday morning so there you go, eyeliner, eye-shadow, mascara and lipstick, which is as good as it gets with me. #hatefoundationoranyfacemakeupreally  I have been trying to grow out my natural hair for over a year now. Before that I would do my own coloring. I balayaged it and dyed it myself.

About 6 months ago I started to really notice the grey hair sprouting up. It was curly, kinky and wild. I finally gave in and decided to highlight my hair to even out the tone. I even zoomed in on the above photo for you so you can really see the grey.  Note that in this photo below I hadn’t washed my hair for 4 days so they were behaving a little bit better.

I saved up some money and took myself to the salon this time.  A coworker highly recommended this place to me and it didn’t let me down.  I went to Bella Blue in downtown Renton.  Hailey expertly blended my hair so that my highlights worked right along side my grays.  I had honestly imagined a much brighter, bolder blonde, but I think this is actually going to be perfect for a grey grow-out/transition. The only thing she could not do was fix the red tone I had somehow dyed my “under hairs” in the past, but I blame me for that. Thanks Hailey!

The Little Black Dress

Finally!! Girls night with my oldest besties. Amanda was one of my first friends when I moved to Renton in 2000 and I met Steffie though my ex (since she is his sister) so she is pretty much family to me. I love these girls so much.  They are my rocks, my sounding boards and I love spending time with them.

I pulled out my favorite little black dress for the occasion.  I got this dress about 6 years ago or so at a thrift store and it has held up beautifully. One of the best $5 I have ever spend.  The shoes are extremely comfortable. I got those on Amazon.com. I had honestly been searching for a comfortable pair of work heals for months.  I could not find any in local stores and was a bit nervous to buy them online.  They turned out to be perfect! They are sturdy, comfortable and cute.

We went out to the Cheesecake Factory last night. I absolutely love their selection and that there are so many gluten free options. I am also a flexitarian so there are many meatless options as well. Of course, I flexed my “atarian” and had a burger last night. When in Rome! I also had the most delicious Mai Thai as you can see in the photo below.

Girls night are a rare treat in our busy lives. I will always cherish each moment we can get together like this. Tell me about your best friends? Are they as awesome as mine?

I cannot leave out my other best friend, my daughter, Melia.  But as I am letting her decide which photos she allows to go on the internet, she is not pictured here. She came along as well and enjoyed the worlds largest piece of chocolate cake! Love you baby girl!
